At an ongoing mitigation drive of the Forest dept. in Idukki, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, and Ernakulam, most of the 1,255 complaints received hitherto pertain to attack on farmlands by animals such as Bonnet Macaques, Malabar Giant Squirrels, and wild pigs. The damage these small animals inflict on crops is enormous, complain farmers. There were only a few complaints about wild elephants, leopards and tigers
