Cabinet decides that the State will bear 50% of the cost of the Angamaly–Erumely Sabari Railway Project and raise its share through the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board. The project — first proposed in the 1997-98 Railway Budget — has finally been set in motion after a hiatus of nearly three decades.
